Tathra Wharf to Waves 2023 Ocean Swim – Competitor Information
Dear Competitors,
Thank you for entering the 2023 Tathra Wharf to Waves. After a few challenging years we are very excited to welcome you back to Tathra and this long-cherished annual event. A few important details ahead of the event:
ENTRY: Regular on-line entries have now closed but a limited number of late entries are still on sale. Late entries will incur a late entry fee. No entries will be accepted after 5pm, Friday 3rd March.
REGISTRATION: Register at the Tathra Surf Club early on the Sunday morning of the swims. All swimmers must register from 6.30am – but no later than 7.40am – to receive your competitor number, swim cap and information bag.
All swimmers must attend a pre-race briefing given by the Race Director at 8.30am on Sunday, on the sand in front of the Tathra Surf Club.
MARSHAL: You will need to be on the wharf at least 20 minutes prior to the scheduled swim start time. We are encouraging all competitors to walk to the wharf via the stairs at the southern end of Tathra Beach. Volunteers will be there to direct you and this walking route will also give you a great opportunity to check out the conditions ahead of the swim. A Shuttle Bus will also be available between the Surf Club and the Tathra Wharf for competitors that are unable to walk.
PERSONAL GEAR MANAGEMENT: Your gear and possessions should be in a clearly labelled bag (you can use the information bag you receive at registration). This gear will be collected off you at the wharf before you enter the water and will be transported back to the beach for collection at the end of your race.
PRESENTATION: Once all results have been finalised, the presentation will be held on the beach in front of the deck of the Surf Club. All swimmers will be eligible to win prizes in several random draws that will take place. You must complete the swim and be at the presentation to receive your prize.
MERCHANDISE: You can purchase merchandise at the below website which can be picked up on the day. Merchandise will also be available for purchase at the event including some discounted apparel from previous years events.

SWIM TIMES:
FOOD: There will be food and drinks available on the beach. Please support our environment by separating your rubbish into the color-coded bins provided.
KEEP UP TO DATE: Any significant changes to the event will be communicated via email and updated on our website homepage and on our Facebook page.
RESULTS: Results will be available in real time at https://results.racegorilla.com/
CONSTRUCTION WORKS ON WHARF: Due to remediation of the wharf, spectator access is not permitted on or near the wharf. There will also be no vehicle access to the Wharf. The nearest vehicle access will be at the Memorial Gardens on the headland above Tathra Wharf.
The best vantage point to view the swims is the viewing platform in the Memorial Gardens on the headland above the Tathra Wharf. Another great view is the walking track that takes you from the south end of the beach up a series of steps to the top of Tathra. Please be mindful that the cliff edge is unstable so please take care and follow directions on signage. Otherwise, stay on the beach and cheer the competitors on as they come in from the swim and run up to the finishing line!
